ArcelorMittal South Africa's steel demand was weak
Novel coronavirus, the local steel maker ArcelorMittal South Africa Ltd., said in July 30th that Johannesburg's steel demand was shrinking due to the new coronavirus, and some production lines were suspended during the outbreak, leading to a loss in the first half of July 30th, Reuters reported. ArcelorMittal South Africa, Africa's largest steelmaker, said its overall loss in the six months ended June 30 had widened from r638m in the same period last year to r2613m (US $157m).
