World iron and Steel Association: global steel output fell 7% year on year in June
According to data released by the World Steel Association on July 23, world crude steel production in 64 countries reported to the world steel association was 148.3 million tons, down 7% year-on-year.
China's steel output rose 4.5% in June from a year earlier to 91.6 million tons, the report said.
In the first half of this year, global crude steel production was 873.1 million tons, down 6% year on year. Among them, the crude steel output in Asia was 642 million tons, a decrease of 3% compared with the same period in 2019; the crude steel output of EU was 68.3 million tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 18.7%; the crude steel output of North America was 50.2 million tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 17.6%.
India's crude steel production in June was 6.9 million tons, down 26.3% from June 2019. Japan's crude steel output in June was 5.6 million tons, down 36.3% year on year. South Korea's steel production in June was 5.1 million tons, down 14.3% year-on-year.
Germany's crude steel output in June was 2.5 million tons, down 27.3% from June 2019. In June 2020, Italy's crude steel output was 1.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.0%. France and Spain produced 800000 tons of crude steel in June, down 34.9% and 31.5% respectively.
Crude steel output in the United States in June was 4.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 34.5%.
